Organic cosmetics: the innovation of beauty

The future of cosmetics lies in nature and Kosmetikal knows it well.

Kosmetikal

Where nature meets beauty there is Kosmetikal, a subcontractor company involved in the research, development and production of natural cosmetics with ingredients of organic and vegan origin. Born as a small family workshop, it grew thanks to the feminine curiosity and creativity of Silvye Malfarà, CEO of the company, and her mother Giovanna, who was later joined by her sister Sofia. Kosmetikal gained success within a few years thanks to its positioning outside the box: a cosmetic product with gold leaves distributed in jewellers. The company went on to form solid partnerships with small and large distributors in the world of pharmacy, herbal medicine and aesthetics.

“Where there is the impossible, we give it our best shot.”

Silvye Malfarà, CEO of Kosmetikal

“The best way to predict the future is to invent it.”

There is a young and proactive atmosphere at Kosmetikal, whose beating heart is the research and development department where the team explores ideas from inside and outside the company, assesses market trends, and experiments with new formulations. Anticipating trends and offering customers products that are always innovative and of the highest quality are the hallmarks of a company that has made flexibility and a strong bond with its partners part and parcel of its diverse package of services. Kosmetikal, in fact, creates, invents and designs products and assists the distributors of  pharmaceutical, beauty and herbal products every step of the way together with various experts in the fields of certification, graphics and promotion.

Kosmetikal, which began as a start-up with a small initial investment, is today an important third party producer of organic and vegan cosmetics. With a large and diverse customer portfolio, the company has achieved a turnover of over one and a half million euros (2017 data) with a 30% export share. Great importance is placed on investment in the growth of human resources, in the implementation of machinery and in the Research and Development sector to which 144 thousand euros were allocated last year.

Sustainability

The raw materials used at Kosmetikal are of natural origin and certified; respect for the environment is therefore deeply rooted in the company’s genes. The next challenge is to find a type of packaging that combines sustainability and resistance, given the risk of reaction that the different formulations have in contact with the materials used for the packaging.

Digital innovation

Over the years the company has acquired several 4.0 machines and has attempted to increase the level of automation also with the implementation of two management systems, one for administration and another for cosmetics. Every year, the company invests a significant percentage of its turnover in research and development. Its growth plan also envisages the further acquisition of equipment thanks to the Sabatini state incentives, Industry 4.0 and hyper amortisation.
