In the age of Artificial Intelligence
Economy of Beauty is the corporate culture platform of Banca Ifis’ Social Impact Lab Kaleidos, conceived and launched in 2021. The project was created with the aim of giving a voice to that cross-cutting sector of our economy connected to the concept of Beauty, and to those companies that base their activities on the enhancement of Italian heritage, leveraging management skills and technology.
The sixth edition of Economy of Beauty continues its exploration of the value that beauty brings to Italy, highlighting the ways in which creativity, artificial intelligence (AI) and beauty products interact and the effects of this triangulation.
In 2024, the Economy of Beauty accounted for 29% of Italy’s GDP, with an added value of €626 billion. This figure confirms that culture, creativity and “know-how” are strategic levers for the country’s development.
However, the characteristics of Italian “know-how” are being challenged by an unprecedented technological revolution, highlighting how a large proportion of Italian companies already consider AI to be a resource for improving their creativity: this is where the concept of Super-creativity comes in, a virtuous combination of tradition and innovation, human creativity and technological capability.
The new edition of the study highlights how companies that have chosen to invest in Artificial Intelligence are already beginning to see tangible results. The adoption of these technologies brings concrete benefits for business growth: greater efficiency, improved profitability and reduced costs. AI is therefore confirmed not as a mere trend, but as a real driver of strategic transformation.
Beauty continues to have a strong influence on Italy’s GDP: this particular economic sector contributes 29% to the country’s Gross Domestic Product, recording an absolute growth of 5%. For this new edition, we have chosen to focus on the relationship between Made in Italy and companies in the sector that use Artificial Intelligence, highlighting how the combination of know-how and AI is a key driver for the development of our national economy.

“Six great personalities from six different sectors (Renzo Rosso for Fashion, Susana Rodriguez Escudero for Cosmetics, Giulia Molteni for Design, Marie-Louise Sciò for Hospitality, Luciano Galimberti for Museum Culture and Michela Milano for University Teaching) discuss this particular contemporary oxymoron: the difficult but necessary relationship between Beauty, Craftsmanship and Artificial Intelligence.”
