Banca Ifis renews its fleet with Stellantis and accelerates the transition towards sustainable mobility

  • Banca Ifis is renewing the entire company fleet in order to adopt more than 50% of green vehicles within four years
  • Brands and production entirely in Italy, and electric, plug-in hybrid and mild hybrid engines lie at the heart of the partnership

Turin, 3 February 2022 – Yesterday at the Centro Stile in Turin, John Elkann, Chairman of Stellantis N.V., presented to Ernesto Fürstenberg Fassio, Deputy Chairman of Banca Ifis, the first car that inaugurates the supply relationship between the two companies engaged in the path towards sustainable mobility. The car in question is a new Jeep® Compass 4xe: a Jeep SUV, produced at the Mirafiori plant, which adopts plug-in hybrid technology.

Banca Ifis will renew the entire company fleet with cars from the Stellantis NV Group, in order to adopt more than 50% of green vehicles – fully electrified, plug-in hybrids or mild hybrids – within four years. A portfolio of over thirty different models is available to the Bank, with a strong emphasis on Italian brands (FIAT, Alfa Romeo, Lancia, Maserati) as well as Jeep, Opel, Citroen and Peugeot. The proposal will be supported by the services of Leasys, a company of the Stellantis NV group, which will offer a wide selection of electric vehicles to assist the Bank in its path towards green mobility.

«Banca Ifis is strongly committed to contributing, both with its corporate strategy and through specific projects, to the development of a more sustainable future on a social, economic and environmental level. Thanks to this partnership, which today represents the best solution to our needs, we can accelerate the process of sustainable transition of our fleet of cars, prioritising Italian brands that ensure very high energy efficiency and are based on Italian know-how» explained Ernesto Fürstenberg Fassio, deputy chairman of Banca Ifis.

«We aim to offer iconic vehicles with characteristics of performance, functionality, style, comfort and electric range that perfectly meet the needs of Banca Ifis. Like Stellantis, we care for the environment and foster a decarbonised economy by committing our organisation to pursue the carbon neutrality of our products and reduce our environmental impact», commented John Elkann, Chairman of Stellantis.

To accelerate the sustainable transition of its fleet, Banca Ifis – leader in the leasing of electric vehicles with a market share in Italy of 34.36% (source Mtct Unrae) – has launched a project for the installation of new columns for electric recharging at the main offices of the Group to supplement the existing ones.

We are putting words into action. Sustainability at Banca Ifis
The agreement with the Stellantis NV Group is just one of several initiatives that the Bank has carried out in the area of environmental sustainability. Banca Ifis is the first Italian challenger bank to join the Net-Zero Banking Alliance (NZBA), the initiative promoted by the United Nations to speed up the sustainable transition of the international banking sector. Banca Ifis is committed to aligning its loan and investment portfolio with achievement of the target of net-zero emissions by 2050, in accordance with the Paris Agreement on climate change.

In 2021, the Bank introduced “green” financing products and programs and signed an agreement with the European Investment Bank (EIB) for a ceiling of 100 million euros in loans to support the green projects of SMEs.
Since 2019, the Bank has chosen to invest in clean electricity to reduce its carbon dioxide emissions and environmental impact and today it uses only 100% renewable energy in all its offices and branches in Italy.
